It appears that Marquinhos’ tenure at Arsenal is nearing its conclusion. If everything goes according to plan, Fluminense will probably sign him on a permanent basis.
After joining the Gunners in 2022, high expectations were set for the 20-year-old player, following the success of Gabriel Martinelli’s rise to fame after his transfer from Brazil in 2019.
Martin Keown praised Marquinhos’ impressive performance during his debut for Arsenal against FC Zurich in 2022.
“He has a great future ahead of him,” he commented during the BT Sport broadcast on August 9th, 2022 at 19:39.
But Marquinhos hasn’t made much progress since then. He was loaned out to Norwich last year, but only played in 11 games.
Last summer, Arsenal decided to loan him to French club Nantes for the first half of the season. However, once again, his experience did not go as expected.
The player, who is 20 years old, only played in seven games for the Ligue 1 team, accumulating a low total of 150 minutes of actual competitive playing time.
Arsenal made the decision to end Marquinhos’ loan early in Brittany and bring him back to the Emirates Stadium.
Currently, it appears that he will be changing locations once more, and it seems doubtful that he will participate in any further games for Arsenal.
