Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has backed Jose Mourinho to leave his legacy in Rome as the Portuguese tactician embarks on a journey to propel Roma back into the ranks of Europe’s elite. The ex-Milan boss believes the former Inter coach has done an ‘extraordinary’ job at the Stadio Olimpico so far.
Speaking to Radio Anch’io Lo Sport, broadcast by Radio1 (via Voce Giallorossa), Ancelotti shared his thoughts on the progress of the Giallorossi under Mourinho.
“I think Mourinho reignited the enthusiasm in a place that needed it badly. He’s doing an exceptional job thanks to his qualities, but I don’t know what can happen next,” he said.
Still, the legendary Italy coach believes the Portuguese can play a significant role in Roma’s revival
“I think Mourinho can play an important role in Roma history,” concluded Ancelotti.
Mourinhos Roma are currently in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League and could easily secure fifth place in Serie A. However, Fiorentina and Lazio are just a point behind the Romans as they continue to seek a European finish.
