Inter Coach Inzaghi Optimistic Despite Grave Bologna Setback

Inter suffered perhaps their biggest setback of this Serie A season after losing 2-1 to hosts Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, which was the extra game they had in hand had. Speaking of coach Simone Inzaghi remains optimistic Nerazzurri‘s chances to keep that Scudetto Crown.

Ivan Perisic’s thunderous early shot opened the deadlock before Marko Arnautovic’s superb header found Bologna’s first shot on goal. However, it was substitute goalkeeper Andrei Radu’s 81stSt tiny howler that eventually broke Nerazzurri Herzen and could very well cost the club a second time in a row scudetti.

When asked if his team will be mentally affected by the goal-line, Inzaghi was dismissive, urging his team to respond to the “heavy defeat”.

“The team has to react because we know it’s a tough defeat, we didn’t deserve to lose because we had so many chances to double when we were 1-0 and even after they were 1-1 we managed to score achieve. Then their gate cut our legs off,” he said (via FCInter1908).

Despite this, Inzaghi kept his optimism and urged his team to get back on their feet and win the remaining games as they are now catching up against Milan.

He said: “It’s difficult to be (optimistic) after a loss like this, but I know I have very strong players and very strong men, so I know we’ll play the next few as best we can. Until three hours ago we were masters of our destiny and now we are not.”

The ex-Lazio tactician went on to say that anything can happen in the remaining four games before the end of the season.

β€œThere are still 4 games and 12 points available. It was a championship full of surprises, anything can happen if we win the last few games,” he said.
